One Hour Projects Part II: Electric Boogaloo

One Hour Projects Part II: Electric Boogaloo

I started this open ended One Hour Project idea a couple of years go as a challenge to myself to just kind of “create” stuff in my down time when I wasn’t working on something specific [or binge watching “Dark” on Netflix… seriously, if you haven’t seen it, its so good!]. Granted, I haven’t posted anything specifically about it in a while, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy. Here is a random smattering of some pieces.   A post…

Desert Island Stitch: Aladdin Sane

Desert Island Stitch: Aladdin Sane

The idea of the “Desert Island Disc” has been around for quite some time, I mean the BBC has had a programm[e] on since 1942! You know the story, or some variation of it, you pick “x” number of records… 8-tracks… cassettes… CDs… a Zune loaded with WAV files… you get it. Playing off the concept, I started a project that titled “Desert Island Stitch” [patent pending] where I pick some of my favorite albums and interpret them as cross…

… better together…

… better together…

I realize that I’ve been using a lot of swears lately to acknowledge the elephant in the room. I can’t help it, I have an Italian mother, and sometimes a good old fashioned expletive is the only way to truly convey the frustration I feel every time I turn on the news. Over the past couple of months it has been quite challenging to watch/listen without a deep sense of dread while exclaiming “are you fucking kidding me?” It seems…

3… 2… 1… Blastoff!

3… 2… 1… Blastoff!

Picture it, Long Beach, 2011. I had decided that I was going to design a papercraft rocket ship to accompany my new Mr. Roboto papercraft. It was much more challenging to create than the Mr. Roboto, as I wanted it to have that classic bulb shape at the top and angular landing gear. After a bit of trial and error, I was able to pull it together pretty well, if I don’t say so myself. Now it’s been a few…

Kick Started

Kick Started

I was super excited to announce that my Kickstarter project successfully funded [on September 16th, to be exact]… so excited that I totally forgot to post about it! I know, priorities… but as I’m gearing up to start sending out rewards, I just wanted to reflect for a second on the project… I have to say, I was a little surprised at how the project was actually funded. I thought that I was going to get a lot more lower-end…

Kick It!

Kick It!

So for a few years now, I’ve been leaving little pieces of free art around town and assorted places. Whether it’s a painted box tied up with a bow and filled with stickers or a custom can with a papercraft Mr. Roboto in it. It’s fun for me, and I really dig it when when I get a tweet back, or a @HappiDevil tag in a picture on the Facegrams and what not. I’ve received many an email from people…

Lush: a set list infographic.

Lush: a set list infographic.

Last night I was lucky enough to see Lush perform at the Roxy on Sunset. The show was rescheduled from April 14th, due to the band having some visa issues [boo!]. Miki was gracious and unnecessarily apologized for having to delay the show to a crowd that had already forgiven the issue. It was wonderful to see and hear the band perform live, and despite being such a small venue, the band sounded massive and full. The setlist favored Gala…
